Passionate about Supporting Those Seeking Help

Since 1993, I've been working as a licensed therapist to help people find greater inner peace and increased satisfaction in their lives. My continued passions are to actively support people seeking practical help and support.

 

Based on my work with groups to teach emotional deescalation skills, I recently published Taming the Volcano to further support individuals struggling to better understand and manage anger issues. 

How I Work


I work with individuals, couples and families in Oregon and Washington State honoring their therapeutic goals, I help clients develop understanding around themselves and the issues they face by skill building and identifying barriers to achieving personal and professional goals. I support the development of a person's individual values and resiliency critical in supporting positive and lasting change.

I also help groups and businesses with workshops and presentations designed to support personal and professional growth and contribute to healthier, safer work environments. I work with small community groups on items like anger management and larger corporations like Kaiser Permanente to educate teams on subjects like trauma-informed security and violence in the workplace.

Specializations

 

To best support my clients, I am trained and experienced in a several therapeutic approaches. I specialize in helping those seeking help with anger management, anxiety, addiction and substance use, chronic relapse, codependency, coping skills, dual diagnosis, grief, life decisions, men's issues, internal conflict, life transitions, couple counseling, marital and family counseling, parenting and stress.

Education, Licensure and Professional Activities

 

I received my Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Oregon State University and a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology from the University of Nevada, Reno. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (Oregon), a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (Washington State), and an active Member of the American Psychological Association.​

From 2012 to 2016, I was appointed by the governor to serve as a member and chair of the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists.
